some important tips for when your drawing portraits:

  • The space between the eyes and nose and nose and mouth are verry important.
  • measure with your pencil if the spaces inbetween are big/small enough...because that is exactly where you recognise a person from
  • begin with the left side...that way you won't fade out the right side.
  • From my experience it's better to start with the eyes and work your way down.
  • Make sure that you have a clear picture so you can see loads of details.
  • Get the picture if necessary inlarged...it shows the details better.
  • Don't start stressing out about details...focus on the bigger facial features like the nose and eyes....I think eyes are the most importent thing in a portrait.

Some examples for when your drawing portraits:

Tip: do the hair last...because ít's not the thing your going to recognise someone from...

Tip: when drawing from a poster or picture, pay attention to the facial features instead of the clothes etc. because that's not where people will recognise the person from.
